What is IFS Broker?
IFS Broker v.3.2 is an international standard intended for assessing companies engaged in commercial brokerage, sales agencies, and the import of products such as food, household goods, personal hygiene products, and packaging materials. The standard applies to entities that typically do not have physical contact with the product but are responsible for its quality and safety throughout the entire supply chain.
The goal of IFS Broker is to ensure that the brokerage services provided by a given company guarantee the quality, safety, authenticity, and legality of the traded products. The assessment includes, among others, the method of selecting and verifying suppliers, supervision of service providers, response to incidents and complaints, as well as the ability to withdraw products from the market in case of a risk.
The standard covers companies operating as brokers, commercial agents, importers, or traders dealing in goods on their own account. A key aspect is effective management of relationships within the supply chain and ensuring compliance with customer requirements and legal regulations.
IFS Broker does not apply to activities related to processing, production, storage, or transportation of products. If a company performs such activities, other standards are used, such as IFS Logistics or IFS Food.
