The EU organic logo is intended to give organic products a consistent visual identity, make it easier for consumers to recognise organic products and help farmers to market them throughout the EU.
When can the logo be used?
The organic logo may only be used for products that have been certified as organic by an authorised certification body.
The logo must be used for all packaged organic products produced and sold as organic within the European Union.
The logo can be used for:
– products imported into the EU if they meet EU import regulations,
– unpackaged organic products,
– products exported from the EU to third countries,
– information materials and educational campaigns promoting organic farming – provided its use is not misleading.
The logo cannot be used for:
– products containing less than 95% organic ingredients,
– products covered by collective catering (e.g. restaurants, canteens, hospitals),
– products not covered by organic farming regulations,
– products in conversion.
How can the logo be used?
When using the EU organic logo, it must be ensured that:
– – the minimum size of the logo is 13.5 x 9 mm, and in the case of very small packages – 9 x 6 mm,
– the logo has standard colours – green background and white stars, and when the entire package is printed in one colour, it is permissible to use the logo in a single-colour version,
no graphic changes are made..
The EU organic production logo must be accompanied by the number of the certification body (e.g. PL-EKO-15), as well as the place of production of the agricultural raw materials included in the product.
