What is SURE certification?

SURE (Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme) is a voluntary sustainability certification system recognized by the European Commission for demonstrating compliance with the requirements of Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED II) and its subsequent amendments.
The system was developed with companies participating in the biomass supply chain in mind, covering biomass used for the production of electricity, heat, cooling, and renewable fuels. SURE certification makes it possible to demonstrate compliance with requirements concerning sustainability, raw material traceability, and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The program covers all stages of the supply chain—from raw material sourcing, through processing, storage, and trade, to its final use.

Who is SURE certification for?

The SURE system is intended for companies and organizations participating in the biomass, biogas, and renewable raw materials supply chain—from producers and intermediaries to processing facilities.

Certification is intended, among others, for:

sawmills and wood-processing facilities,
companies in the wood and paper industries,
companies involved in trading wood and biomass fuels,
pellet producers,
energy suppliers,
agricultural farms,
forestry companies,
waste processing and recovery facilities,
entities managing forest areas.

The system supports companies operating in the renewable resources sector by enabling them to demonstrate compliance with sustainability requirements and ensure the traceability of raw materials throughout the supply chain.
